Where is home? What makes a home? Who belongs in Canada?
This family-friendly workshop explores the movement of people to and within Canada and the many kinds of homes they’ve made along the way and the homes they left behind. We’ll read and share stories about migration over time and reflect on what home means to your own family through a creative activity.
Karen Sands-O’Connor is a professor of children’s literature at the University of Sheffield in the UK. She is currently working to develop a centre for inclusive children’s literature for teachers, parents, librarians and researchers. Her latest book, Beyond the Secret Garden: Racially Minoritised People in British Children’s Literature (co-authored with Darren Chetty, EMC Publishing), will be published in 2025.
This event is intended for families with children aged 4-10. Please register once per family and include the number of adults and children attending. Participation is $20 per family or no charge under our Fair Entry Program if cost is a barrier.
